Traditional and legendary monsters are a great source of inspiration. Here’s an ugly one out of history: the Troll.
By most accounts, trolls are tough, evil monsters with bad dispositions and appearances to match.
And in many fantasy games, trolls are noted for two things: regeneration and the need for fire or acid to kill them.
We’re not sure where the fire/acid point came from (it might have been inherited from Gygax and company), but Battle Monsters includes only the former.
Our Troll has Regenerate +1, which gives it a modest chance at recuperating from an attack.
We also added Disease +2, because he have a feeling that most trolls are rather unclean, and getting hit by one would likely make you sick.
Of course, we’ve never met a troll, so we’re not really sure if that’s true. … 😉
